have you ever thought about the selection process when it comes to what goes in a magazine? I've always wondered if they have a panel of people who choose, or if it is one lonely employee, stuck behind a computer at 3:00 in the morning, painstakingly going through one submission after another, hahahaha...what do you think?

I wonder that too sometimes. It has to be a collaborative effort.

Or maybe they have 1 person for each specific editorial or article..KWIM?

I envision it being like a large design team of people who sift through layout after layout and give their top picks in order of preference...then whatever layout gets the most "hits" goes in...except I think they sort a lot out first--things like wrong season, wrong colors for the spread, etc. :eek: Can you imagine the work?

This has crossed my mind too! It is fun to speculate...
maybe its an intern who sifts through the submissions pulling out all the ones that fit the submission guidelines. Then the intern passes them onto the author of the specific article. Then the finals go to the Editor! Whatcha think?
