Never owned one or used one here either. Maybe you could sample the new one at your LSS to see how you like it.

i used the blue one at a lss and i agree with you on the hand hurting thing!! cutting out two hearts about killed me! plus one heart was for dd because she wasn't near strong enough to do it! i'll have to try the new one.

i have the blue handled one and i wouldn't purchase the new one. i've had mine over a year and i don't use it consecutively enough to hurt myself. i guess it depends on how much you use it. i have an alpha set and many dies. i guess if i could afford to have several alphas i might reconsider. lol
i agree with Rebecca, i would try one out at your lss. i should do the same, i've seen one sitting out at mine. let us know if you do. :)

I have the blue one also... It is a pain!!! I did try the new black one at my LSS and HOLY Cow it's a TON easier to squeeze. Wish I had waited and got that one. Good luck hon:D

i have blue and pink one. i have never taken the pink one out of the box. i use the blue one all the time. I just recently purchased a sidekick. it is a miracle. i just slide it in and turn. it is lighter and can travel like the blue one. since qk are using some of the larger dies, they don't cut well. it gets really fraustrating. so that is another reason i purchased the sidekick.

SMOOCHIES BACK!!!
I bought the black handled one. I liked the alpha that came w/ the pink one better, but I wanted the black handle because I figured the pink one would just end up dirty from the oils and the ink that is ALWAYS on my hands when I scrap! LOL
For those of you that it hurts your hand...are you using the ComfyKutz?? If not...it makes a HUGE difference. As for whether or not the long handle is better than the short handle, the answer is YES!!!!! Because it is longer, it doesn't require as much pressure to get the cut. I have the ComfyKutz for this one too and it makes it even easier. Another benifit is that if you use the stand so that you can operate it on the table, the new ones have a notch where the screw in the handle goes, so it is perfectly placed. The old one didn't have that and I was CONSTANTLY repositioning it.
Hope that helps!! :)

I bought the Ellison Big Shot and it is so easy. You can use pretty much any think dies such as QuicKuts (need to purchase the $5 side kick converter) and all the sizzix dies.

i used to have the blue one, but sold it & bought the black handle w/ font that came w/ it. the blue one is just find. i always used the cushion that goes on top of the handle when setting my dies. worked best that way instead of holding it in your hands.

I have the blue one and yes it hurts after a while, got the side kick and the converter, which doesn't hurt as much and cuts fine.
