I want to try more detailed stamping-where you actually color the images with Copics, Prismas, watercolor etc. I need an eduction tho:rolleyes: I don't know what a blending stump is supposed to be used with (is this the same thing as the Copic colorless blender?). What are the best papers for doing this sort of stamping? Do you have any favorite inks? What about books? Are there any brands you prefer over others? Any advice?

Thanks girls!

PS-I'm not interested in SU! I don't want to have to meet with someone:o

Blending stump is usually used with Prismacolor pencils and gemsol, there are great tutorials out there. I am not familiar with Copics, but I know where you can find help. I use watercolor paper for my watercolor pencils or when I use my blender pen with ink. When I have more time later tonight I will post links to some blogs you can find help :)
Here is a link to my blog and a stamped image I colored with SU ink and blender pen. SU and Sugarloaf ink is all I have.

awesome links Daniela! I just got me some Copics, and have used Tombow/SU! Markers before. I have found I do LOVE the SU! markers but to get the look I want I need to stamp on good Watercolor paper.

I got watercolor paper at Hobby Lobby. You don't need the most expensive one.

I love to use watercolor crayons for coloring in images. I used a watercolor brush with them. You do need to use a black stamp pad though where that ink won't run when you use water or markers with it.

I use Staz on ink on watercolour paper when I am going to apply water to an image. I love Tombows for acheieving the water colured effect.
I will still stamp the image with staz on if I am colouring the image with markers, so the ink doesn't smear.

I love watercolor crayons best for coloring as well, and use Stazon ink and either an aquapainter or blender pen with watercolor paper. I don't have copics. I do like my prismacolors with blending stump and gamsol, but tend to use the watercolorcrayons more - I like this look. Most everything I use and love is SU - so not sure how to help there except to say that it is certainly possible to buy SU without having to meet with someone - now that the catalog is online and demos can all take credit cards, I have people contact me all the time with what they want and a cc# and I just ship it to them directly.

I like to color!! HEHE... A couple of things to remember, with Copic markers you MUST use a pigment ink because they are alcohol based markers and will bleed with other ink types. I use Brillance ink in Black. Anything that you are using water with needs a water proof ink, I typically use Staz On. With Gamsol you need to use something like Staz On too. The Copic colorless blender is actually kinda strange. It is used to "move" color around and/or pick up color. If you want a set of markers to color with, I would definitely recommend Copics, they are an investment, but are also lifelong markers because they are refillable and you can replace the tips (on the Sketch at least). I also have SU!'s markers and I like them ok, I use them when I don't have a color in the Copic's or sometimes for water coloring. My favorite paper for coloring Copic's is totally nerdy. I buy the paper that Anime artists would use. It's economical and bright and works great with Copic markers. The H2O paper I use is from SU! You just want a heavier weight paper. Hope that helps a little bit!
